When Docsminder starts up for the first time, you have a number of choices given to you. The main one is that you need to chose a database to use.
What database to use?
During installation, you installed two - a blank database that you will eventually use for your own purposes, and a Sample database that we provide for training and testing purposes. There is in fact no limit to the number of databases that you can use with Docsminder, but we start with just two.
So your first choice is - use the blank database or the Sample one? Most likely, this will be the Sample one. The access username for this database is "demo".
Initial data
If you are using the Sample database, that is it. You are in and there is no more setting up to do as we have done it all for you.
If you are using a blank database, then you have a couple of more steps. Docsminder absolutely requires entries in a number of tables - otherwise further operation is rather meaningless. So we force you to enter the two major ones. You must enter at least one administration level User, and one Office. Two forms will popup that allows you to enter this data.
Optional
We generate the rest of the required data automatically. This is only enough so that you can get started - you can at this point enter file and box details. But we recommend that you look into it a bit more and setup the software to more accurately reflect your company situation. We can help in this area if you require. There is also some documentation provided that goes into this step in a bit more detail.
Registration
Since this is a first install, we also ask you to register the software. This only happens once, and you can bypass the step quite easily. If you do, you will have a 30 day trial version which is not restricted in any way.
See how to register Docsminder for more details.
