- Docsminder software is setup on multiple workstations
- You need to install Docsminder Server on one server computer connected to your internal LAN
- The database is stored on the server computer
- Other computers can access the data by connecting to the server computer
Installation
You install the Docsminder (client) software on every office computer that needs to run it.
You also need to install the Docsminder Server software on the server computer. This will generally be your main
office server - but in fact it can be any computer that is on your network.
You install the database on the server computer and configure the Docsminder Server to use that data.
In the example shown here, each workstation computer would set their Network Configuration to "Remote" and specify
the remote IP address of 10.0.0.39. Please note that this IP address is made up - you would actually enter
the IP address of your particular server.
Licencing
You will only need to licence the Docsminder Server software. You do NOT need to worry about
licensing any of the workstation computers.
You can only obtain an Enterprise licence
Please note - while we user the term "server computer" here, this is a generic term describing the function the
computer is serving. It does not have to be a special "server" computer in the hardware sense, nor does it have to
run any Windows Server operating system.
