Configuration : Local - Client/Server combination |
|
![]()
This configuration is useful if you want your external connections (ie from remote locations) to connect via the Internet, and your internal connections to simply point to the data folder. InstallationYou install the Docsminder (client) software on every office computer that needs to run it.You need to install the Docsminder Server software on the server computer. You install the database on the server computer and configure the Docsminder Server to use that data. In the example shown here, some workstation computers would set their Network Configuration to "Remote" and specify the IP address of 10.0.0.39. Please note that this IP address is made up - you would actually enter the IP address of your particular server. Other workstations might configure themselves as a "Local" connection, and set the database path to "\\server\docsminder\data". Again, please note that this is just an example - you would actually specify the real UNC path to the shared database folder. You could also map this shared folder to a drive letter, of course. LicencingYou will need to licence the Docsminder Server software. You do NOT need to worry about licensing any of the workstation computers that connect using "Remote". You will need to individually licence each computer that connects as "Local".You can obtain any licence
